My one-act play Danny and the Therapist is being read at the Sanctuary: Playwrights Theater in New York.  This play explores the role of secular religion -- that of the therapist, representing one who provides answers, or at least purports to know them, outside of the religious and even spiritual realm.  However, as the play indicates, the human being is frail -- and perhaps the echo of religious yearning (subtle, practically hidden) that buzzes along in the subtext of the play is no different than that which we find in our religious search.  We want answers from someone or something more knowledgeable than ourselves.  But does this possibility really exist?  Nothing is as it seems.
